Creating the imagery

As i have decide to go with the pens and scribbles to be apart of the design an layout theme i needed to create them, realistic enough so that they don't look fake and actually look credible.

below is the approach i took to create the effect i was looking for:

To create the pen i wanted to use for the booklet, i photographed a red felt tip pen i had myself and then took that image into photoshop to edit it and get rid of the background an to make it look a little more vibrant.

As with the actual pen itself, i did the same with the pen lid:

• photographed it
• touched it up in photoshop.

To create the scribble effect, i hand drew a scribble on a piece of paper and then scanned it in at high resolution and touched it up.

To create both colours i just changed the HUE on the original red pen to create the blue shade. This ensured i had constancy between the images and that the both look realistic.

Evaluation:

I am happy with how the pens and scribbles have come out. From the original ideas of vectoring the pens i feel i made the right decision to photograph and edit them myself instead of taking an image from the internet or creating a vector, which i now think wouldn't have been as effective.
