A my brief was new I wanted gather feedback of my initial ideas, and see which ones were working and which ones i should leave behind. I have a tendency to ponder over one idea far too long and then this eats up my time and the resolution isn't resolved throughly, leaving it, in theory half finished, or not fully investigated.
The start of this brief has seen me focusing upon type. i set my sights upon resolving this brief with typography, so this is what i have investigated firstly. looking at my initial research, the use of type in these cards is very minimal and all the type i have seen is just for the christmas message laid on-top of an image. i intend to create my card to focus purely upon the type to send the christmas message across.
I think my simple type design with the vibrant colours and bold message is a contemporary design which would fit in with what the brief is asking and that could be spread across an entire range. This is a possible resolution to take on an develop.
What i have also seen within i my research is that, the contemporary cards use bold, simple vectored imagery to portray christmas and don't focus upon type a whole lot, it is the image and flat colour that create the card. this is something that appealed to me, and even though i intend to use type for my cards i thought it was a good idea to mock up a few imagery ideas to get comparison within my crit. The line vector portray a christmas tree in a contemporary fashion. i will ask for the opinion and feedback on this style of design for an option of design development after the crit.
